What's Been in My Head This Week

I keep a running list of things that catch my eye, half in notes, half in saved posts. This is that list from the past week, picked by me alone, no team, no algorithm. Not a trend report, just the handful of things that quietly fed how I think about design this week.

A green risotto, styled like a Dior bag.

Stylist Bella Thomas turned the curves of Dior's Toujours Hobo bag, and Jonathan Anderson's collection, into a plate of risotto, staged in a garden. Food, fashion and setting collapsing into one image, exactly the kind of cross-category styling I'd love to borrow for a material story of our own.

“City bathing,” Tokyo style.

Copenhagen studio FRAMA coined “city bathing” for their recurring Tokyo trips, borrowing the idea of forest bathing and applying it to a city's design and retail scene. It reminded me that our own research trips might be worth sharing, not just the finished work that comes out of them.

A glowing canopy over the sea.

“Le Festival du Soleil,” a speculative public art installation from NCL Gallery, stretches a warm, glowing canopy from a Mediterranean beach into the water. I keep coming back to it, light and warmth turned into a shared, gathering space.

A house built from memory.

Designer Oscar Piccolo and 3D studio Evoquelab rebuilt his Sicilian childhood as Casa Scopello, arches, warm stucco, small deliberate windows. It's the kind of project that makes me want to design from memory more often, instead of starting from a mood board.

Sailing core.

Fashion is calling this summer's mood “sailing core”, rope, brass, open water, and an unhurried pace. A nautical note I think could sit naturally in our own palette as the season turns.

“A painted world,” an AI-generated piece by giz.akdag, loose blue brushstrokes across a canvas sail, carried by a figure rowing across a salt flat. I saved it purely for the brushwork, a surface idea I'd love to try on fabric or ceramics.

A short reel from Boundary put it plainer than I could: the objects we keep, the spaces we return to, the details we almost overlook, that's the real material of design. I've been sitting with that line all week.

This selection is entirely mine, no team, no algorithm, just what genuinely stopped me this week, food styling, an old reel, a stranger's speculative render. I find that paying attention to things outside furniture and candles is usually what feeds the next idea inside it.
